MyGymGate vs Mindbody (2026): Comparison for Indian Gyms
MyGymGate (₹399/mo) vs Mindbody (from $79/mo per location): prices and fees checked on both sites, features side by side, and who should pick which in India.
MyGymGate vs Mindbody is a choice between two very different products. Mindbody is class and appointment software for studios, with built-in payments and a consumer app that sends new clients your way; its Starter plan is from $79 a month per location, with fees on top. MyGymGate skips scheduling and focuses on what an Indian open gym needs at the door and at renewal time: QR or face check-in on an Android phone, expiry lists, WhatsApp and email reminders and a TV leaderboard, for ₹399 a month with unlimited members. If your business is classes, Mindbody fits. If your problem is renewals, MyGymGate does that job for about 5% of the cost.
A disclosure: we make MyGymGate. Every Mindbody fact below links to a source, mostly Mindbody's own pages, and we've been as plain about our gaps as theirs.

Mindbody in detail
Price
On Mindbody's pricing page, Starter is from $79 a month per location in North America and Asia, and the Accelerate and Ultimate plans are quoted by sales. On top of the subscription you pay payment processing plus $0.10 to $0.30 per transaction. When Mindbody's consumer app brings you a brand-new client, Mindbody takes 20% of that client's first purchase, capped at $30. There are no fees for extra staff users. Email and SMS marketing and automations are on Ultimate only; the AI front desk is an add-on on Accelerate and included in Ultimate.
What it does
- Scheduling: classes, appointments and workshops, with payments built in. Mindbody's payments run on Stripe.
- Check-in: a free check-in app that turns a tablet into a self-serve kiosk.
- Marketplace: Mindbody says its consumer app has 3M+ active users and drives 22K+ first purchases a month for the businesses listed on it (Mindbody for business). More than 40,000 businesses use the platform.
- Marketing: email and SMS campaigns and automations on the top plan.
Where Mindbody is stronger
The marketplace. No other tool in this comparison puts your studio in front of people looking for a class nearby, and for a premium studio in a city where the app is popular, that can pay for itself. It's also a full system for class-based businesses: scheduling, payments and marketing in one place, with no per-staff fees.
What to watch for
- Cost adds up. The $79 is a starting price per location. Transaction fees, the marketplace fee and higher plans for marketing or a branded app sit on top. Some reviewers on CardFellow complain about fees going up every year.
- Built for classes. If members walk in whenever they like, most of what you'd pay for goes unused.
- India. Billing is in US dollars. Mindbody opened an engineering office in Pune in 2020, but we found no India pricing page and no mention of UPI, Razorpay or GST invoices. Payments run on Stripe. Ask sales how Indian members would pay before you commit.
Pick Mindbody if you run a class-based studio (yoga, Pilates, dance, HIIT) that lives on bookings, you want the marketplace, and the dollar budget works.

Price
₹399 a month, one plan, everything included, unlimited members. No setup fee, free member import, monthly with no long lock-in.
What it does
- Front desk: any Android phone becomes a locked-down scanner. Members show a QR pass or use optional face check-in (consent-based, matched on the scanner phone). Check-in takes about 2 seconds, and expired plans are stopped at the door.
- Retention: who's inside now, today's visits, who expires this week, who has gone quiet, and an attendance calendar.
- Reminders: automatic welcome, renewal and "we miss you" emails in your gym's name. WhatsApp templates open with the message filled in, with no WhatsApp Business API bill.
- Members: QR pass by email and a private tracker link. No app to install.
- TV: a live leaderboard with streaks and weekly champions on any TV browser.
Where MyGymGate is stronger
Cost: a year of MyGymGate is about 5% of a year of Mindbody Starter, before Mindbody's fees. Fit for Indian open gyms: rupee pricing, members keep paying by UPI or cash, reminders go where members actually read them, and setup takes about a day. And the TV leaderboard, which Mindbody doesn't have.
Where MyGymGate falls short
No class or slot booking; for a class studio that rules it out. No payment collection, no membership freeze, no consumer marketplace, no branded member app, and the owner app is Android only (the web dashboard works anywhere).
Which should you choose?
- Choose MyGymGate if you run an independent open gym and your problem is renewals and attendance, not filling class slots.
- Choose Mindbody if you run a class-based studio that lives on scheduling and discovery, and the budget works.
- The India question: if rupee pricing and UPI matter to you, check with Mindbody before signing, because its site doesn't mention either.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mindbody worth it for a small Indian gym?
Usually not for an open gym. Mindbody's strengths are class scheduling, card payments and its consumer marketplace, and its Starter plan alone is about ₹90,100 a year at ₹95 to the dollar before transaction fees. A gym that mainly needs check-in and renewal reminders pays for a lot it won't use.
Does Mindbody support UPI or Razorpay?
We found no mention of UPI, Razorpay or Indian GST invoicing on Mindbody's pricing or business pages, and its payments run on Stripe. Mindbody has an engineering office in Pune, but no India pricing page. Ask its sales team directly if Indian payment methods matter to you.
I run yoga or Pilates classes. Should I consider MyGymGate?
Probably not as your main system. MyGymGate has no class or slot booking, so a studio that sells classes needs booking software such as Mindbody. MyGymGate suits open gyms where members come and go at any time.
Does Mindbody have a free trial?
Mindbody's pricing page offers a demo rather than a free trial. MyGymGate offers a 15-minute demo, and you can download the Android app from its website.
